My Mom’s Words
In early 2020, just before Covid, I sat with my mom and began recording her stories. She shared memories of growing up during the Depression, the bond with her sister Libby, the joy of raising three children, and her love of being a mother.
At the time, I didn’t realize how much these recordings would mean. Five years later, as her memory has declined, her words, laughter, and recipes are treasures we return to again and again.
Placing Stones gave me the space to preserve her stories, photos, and handwritten notes in one place. My siblings and I now have a living tribute to our mom—a gift not only for us, but for our children and future generations.
As she turns 95 next month, I’m grateful to have her legacy preserved through Placing Stones. Memories fade, but her voice and her love remain.
